Welcome to another week of Wedded Bliss!
I took a couple weeks off from writing because
1. I went to Las Vegas, and
2. I needed to recoup from Las Vegas!
But I am back and here to give you some more Wedded Bliss.
Today, I’m talking all about my favorite part of weddings, the flowers.
I LOVE flowers, and they were my favorite part of my wedding.
No, really. I loved my florist and my flowers so much.
Since I had such a great experience with my flowers, I’m here to give you some advice that I learned through the whole pick out flowers for your wedding process.
Make sure the flowers you want are going to be in season.
This is somewhat important if you plan on using a specific flower. If you have a specific color combo, or flower in mind be sure to check the season of it. Show the bouquet or flower arrangement you have picked out to your florist. There are SO many flowers that even if they cannot obtain a specific flower, they can offer you a great alternative.
Learn some flower names
Yall. Sometimes my florist would talk to me about flowers, and I just went along with it because I had no idea what she was talking about. I knew what a rose, a tulip, and a peony was and that was the extent of my floral knowledge.
Jaelynn started talking about Ranuculas, and I looked at her like… What?
She then showed me all of the pictures of what she was thinking and I instantly fell in love.
Learn some flower names so that when you talk with your florist it all makes some sort of sense.
Plus you know, learning about flowers is pretty cool.
Watch your budget
I can get really crazy when it comes to spending money. If I have a vision in my head, I’m going to make it happen. Sometimes though my visions can be SUPER expensive, and my wedding floral decor was no exception. Did you know a greenery garland can run you almost $500? Because I did not, especially when I wanted all my tables to have one. (My mom really LOL’ed on that one) We opted to have just the head table have one to save some money.
Another way to watch your budget is to reuse floral arrangements. My ceremony included some spectacular floral arrangements and we just moved them from the ceremony location to the reception area.
Add some greenery
Silver Dollar Eucalyptus is by far my favorite greenery. I knew I wanted to have them in my wedding ever since I saw them on Pinterest. I ended up adding so much greenery to my wedding, not only because I loved the look of it, but it is also cheaper.
Love your florist
Make sure your florist is someone you just adore. I still to this day look at all my florist instagram pictures and follow along with what she is doing. I love seeing her work, and that’s what you want on your wedding day. You want to walk in and love the work your florist did, and that starts with loving your florist. Make sure your visions fits their work, and have the best time planning your wedding with them!
I hope you enjoyed this part of Wedded Bliss!
Remember to enjoy this process, and have an amazing time!
P.S: My florist is Urban Rubbish out of College Station, TX.
If you’re planning a wedding in the Houston area or the BCS area be sure to check her out.
