Did you know Nordstrom was having a sale?
If you literally follow any blogger, you would know that Nordstrom’s anniversary sale is going on.
Someone in a Facebook group I’m in posted about how we don’t need outfits and designer things to feel good about ourselves.
This is so true.
Don’t get me wrong, your girl has a Nordstrom Card and shopped the sale early. I grabbed 2 things that are staple pieces, and things I will hold on to for awhile.
But a lot of the stuff that was on there, I wouldn’t/couldn’t pay for.
Let’s be real, I’m a 26 year old working class gal, that is married, and owns a home.
I also don’t have student loans, a car payment, nor do I have any debt besides my credit cards, and I still struggle.
Finances are hard when you’re just starting out in the “adult world”.
This time in life is where some of us get into overwhelming debt trying to fit into an extremely filtered world.
Let me tell you, I’ve dropped some serious credit on stuff I didn’t need. Yes y’all credit, because I didn’t have the money at that time to pay for it.
I learned a hard lesson that eventually you have to pay your credit card bill no matter how much you try to hide from it.
This sale shouldn’t cause you to go into debt, or feel inferior. Heck there is not a single sale that should make you feel that way.
Now don’t think that I’m some positive spewing fountain of self-love, and that I didn’t question myself after seeing post after post about this sale.
I’ve briefly talked about my struggle with Body Dysmorphia in a previous post, and I too questioned if I need to buy something that I know I couldn’t afford just to try and fit in or feel some sort of way about myself.
Because I totally did.
But I wanted to write this in order to to be as open and honest as I can be.
I also want all of my followers to remember a few things as they navigate the sale that has taken over social media:
This is a sale, and nothing more.
It does not show or reflect your value as a person.
It is perfectly okay if you too can’t drop $200 on a pair of shoes or $100 on a sweater, girl neither can I. #ballinonabudget
You are a beautiful, smart, funny, high achieving bad ass!
And that’s the truth ladies.
I hope you have an amazing weekend y’all!
