Any girl knows that picking out their wedding dress is single handily one of the most important decisions they will ever make, you know besides picking out the groom.
Most girls dream of their future wedding dress, and know exactly what they want.
I was not that girl. I actually never wanted to have a wedding.
I was totally down for eloping.
Buttttttt when I met my husband that all changed. He wanted a wedding, a real one.
Not an elopement, but an actual big ‘ole shindig.
So I jumped on board with this idea, and started planning one.
That included picking out my wedding dress.
Here is the thing with wedding dresses, there are a million of them.
There are also a million stores in which you can buy one.
It is extremely overwhelming as you have no idea where to go, or what to do when you get there.
Today, I’m here to save you some stress and tell you some of the best tips on picking out the best dress for you!
Go With An Open Mind
I know, you probably found that one dress on Pinterest and decided this is the one.
You track it down, go to the store, try it on, and realize….. Nope. This is not it.
As heartbreaking as that is, be open to other dresses.
Be open to different styles, if your obsessed with a mermaid style, try an A-line on.
Put some color in your life, and be open to maybe a colored dress, or a colored lining.
It never hurts to try something on, so you might as well go for it.
Pick The Right Group
Everyone has that one really opinionated person in their group, whether it’s a family member or a friend.
While you love them dearly, this isn’t someone you want with you while you’re shopping for dresses.
They will stress you out, and make your shopping experience less than desirable.
Shopping for your wedding dress should be a fun time, and enjoyable.
Don’t let someone bring you down during this time just because you feel obligated to bring them.
Know Your Budget
I didn’t have a budget, but I also knew my parents were not about to spend $10,000 on a dress either.
Be mindful of how much money you have to spend, and stick to it.
We’ve all seen that girl on Say Yes to the Dress who comes in with a $2,000 budget, and wants the $10,000 one.
All you are doing is setting yourself up for failure when you try a dress on that is out of your budget.
Do Your Research
This is one of the most important dresses you will buy,
and you want to make sure that the people you are trusting with it are top notch.
Research the store you are wanting to shop at before you go.
Read the reviews online and ask your friends about a particular store.
Does the store have poor customer service?
Do they make empty promises?
Do they take longer than they say?
If they do, pick another store girl.
Trust me it is not worth the stress to go to a store that is going to mishandle your dress, or make your experience anything less than magical.
Bring The Accessories
No I don’t mean like bring the garter, all your wedding jewelry and all of that jazz.
What I mean is, if you’ve already picked your shoes, bring them. If you haven’t bring a pair of heels, with you.
If you’ve decided you’re going to wear shape wear, because Spanx are life, bring it.
You want your dress to look like it will on your wedding day and that includes the accessories that you will be wearing too.
You are wedding dress shopping, so have fun with it!
Smile a lot, laugh a lot and have the time of your life!
I hope you have the best of time looking for that special dress!
P.S: If you’re a Houston Bride, I purchased my dress at Brickhouse Bridal in Spring, TX and loved every single minute of my experience.
Happy Shopping Loves!
